Cheap, expensive, good TV ceiling and wall mount

I decided to order mounting plates because they seem (and probably do) are the best way to mount my equipment. I believe they really should be included in the case and pins for body attachment are very cheap. I'm not sure if you can just replace them. I used to buy metal cases and mount them on a wooden background. It seems like a much better option than that plastic junk.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Minor issues

OnQ/Legrand development team knows how to make me happy

I have purchased an OnQ/Legrand data/comms/tv distribution board and many components including this one. It works as advertised and I actually bought three of these (one each for cable modem, wireless router and 16 port switch). One day I will upload a high resolution photo of the panel or a short video showing everything. In fact, I'm very happy with the result, considering this isn't my specialty.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • Something different

High price and poor design

$20 is a ridiculously high price for this "gear", I'm glad I only ordered one. There are too many design flaws - first, the stylus sticks out so you can't lay flat on the entire shelf; Second, the Velcro is too long for a standard-sized cable modem or router. I had to wrap them twice which wasn't easy as the attachment "ears" are narrower for two layers of velcro. After dealing with this Legrand design crap, I made my own sheet aluminum mounting brackets for the router.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • High price

Both the half and full width fit perfectly in my 2005 OnQ case. The half-width Velcro straps work in both sets and loops, but the full-width Velcro straps are only for vertical running. They are too wide to fit through the loops to hold an item wrapped around the waist. For example, I want the network switch ports to be on top and the velcro to run horizontally around the case so it doesn't get in the way of the ports. I had the narrower Velcro on hand, but otherwise you need scissors.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

Does what I want, but isn't perfect

This was exactly what I needed for my structured wiring closet. However, I cannot give 5 stars for several reasons. First, the mounting holes fitted my 42 inch Legrand case perfectly. The problem was with the mounting pins and bushings that came with the kit. to sag. I ended up using zip ties at the top to support the weight. Second, the plate itself is well designed for the mounting options. However, this can also be a limitation. Firewall in the upper left quadrant and my cable modem in the…

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Poor locking pin and strap design

The shelf works well but there are two major downsides: The pin that holds the shelf is terrible. I bought two of these, installed them and decided to adjust the placement due to the need for wiring. The first was almost impossible to remove (yes, I know the pin had to be detached first) and the second broke in my hand as soon as I touched it before I could exert myself. I had to secure it with a zip tie after paying $24 for a metal corner piece and some velcro. Velcro straps for attaching…
