Description of Leica Ultravid Binoculars AquaDura Coating

The prisms of the new binoculars are made from specially formulated SCHOTT glasses with exceptional transmission characteristics (SCHOTT HT glasses). The Leica Ultra vid HD-Plus 42 binoculars therefore also offer increased contrast performance in all viewing situations, and particularly in unfavorable light. The Leica Ultra vid HD-Plus 42 models are available with 7×, 8× and 10× magnification and are identified by an engraved ‘HD’ in red on the strap lugs of the binoculars. The binoculars feature exceptionally high-quality lenses that reduce flare to an absolute minimum. The shock-absorbent armoring protects the binoculars against damage while also providing excellent grip for safe and steady handling.

Worth every penny: Binoculars

For bird watching: It's life changing. I should have been broke for this years ago. Great pictures; clear also at dusk and dawn; easy to focus; The best binoculars I've ever used. I have leeway. It's better than my scope. Worth every penny.

The eyecups are too short for eye relief.

It depends on how shallow your eye sockets are, but I found the eyecups to be too short for the advertised eye relief. This causes a lot of blackouts unless you take the binoculars off your eyes and put them in your eye sockets. Not very useful that way. A lot of binoculars are like this and I don't know why the manufacturers don't make eyecups long enough. unsuitable for me. I returned them.

To be honest there really isn't anything better

I ordered these after trying the Swaro EL 8.5X42. I wanted to try both and see which one is "better". In truth, there really isn't anything better, just differences. First, it's a much smaller device to hold, about 1/2 shorter than the EL or 3/4 inch than the new Zeiss SF. I liked it. However, the EL didn't bother me with its size as a deciding factor. - Diopter works great on both but I liked seeing the position on the Leica, again nothing major. - I like the fact that it's 7x, after a lot of…
