Lensbaby Velvet 56 Best in Lenses

These are fun lenses. Personally, it was good for me to switch completely to manual control. Although it can be used for many types of photography, it has the advantage of being able to take close-up shots.

I love this lens. - Lenses

I love this lens. Crunch when you want. Soft and dreamy if you want. Full control with my Nikon DF. My last trip was full of lenses and I shot everything on velvet. I haven't even broken out other lenses.

I am happy. Very versatile

I was hesitant to make this purchase especially as all the lenses I own are Nikon and autofocus. So far I'm satisfied. Very diverse. I only shoot in manual mode so I don't know how it works with other settings. Very happy with the results.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Compatibility

Beautiful lens! in lenses

These lenses are soft and I can adjust how focused I want to be. At lower apertures like F2.5 you get a beautiful dreamy look, while higher apertures allow you to focus better. I like this lens very much and can only recommend it. I mainly use it for flower photography.

Pros
  • trial for one year
Cons
  • volume

Learning experience

I'm still learning how to use this lens. This takes some practice. It's very soft with the aperture wide open, and I have to learn how to place the main focus point properly. I hope to use it extensively for photographing flowers this spring. So far I have not been able to reproduce some samples of photos taken by some people with this lens.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No tutorial

Lightweight Tight bokeh

This is a fun little lens. That's easy. It's light and produces a nice bokeh. The rear lens cap doesn't hold up, which I like. But I can live with it since I hid it in a cozy place. The lens cap is to be checked due to its construction, as it is adhesive on the outside and is slightly magnetic. If you turn the focusing drum all the way open, the cap will not stay in place. so you have to flip it. Extend the barrel a bit and the front cap stays in place.

Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Velvet, a very descriptive name for this lens.

I shoot with Nikon D610. I usually shoot in manual mode, metering works fine with this lens, and aperture priority mode seems to work well. Reusing the aperture ring and focus wasn't easy, it's amazing how quickly you get used to this technology. I've only experimented so far. Wide open, the thing is really soft, velvety, stop and everything gets hotter. The far background never comes into focus, which this lens does. I need to take a few more shots to see how I feel about bokeh. These shotsโ€ฆ

Velvet 56, a very specialized lens.

The Velvet 56 is a 56mm f/1.6 lens with a metal frame, suitable for both full-frame and DX cameras. It is well designed and easy to use. It's recommended to use it on a camera with Live View or Focus Peaking so you can be sure of what's in focus and what's not. Focus falls to very soft at the widest apertures, suitable for dreamy landscapes or portraits with at least 1/3 of the subject's body in the frame. That's not enough for undistorted head and shoulders portraits on a full-frame camera. At
