This is the most fragile piece of plastic I have ever come across. I installed it, and before it was anywhere CLOSE to an exact fit, it snapped into the screw attachment point. They do their job. I needed a larger slab to cover the chipped tiles at the exit and that was enough to work with. I can see how over tightening is likely to cause them to tear. So if your hole is a little crooked or the wall flexes at all, you can get flexible wall panels instead.
