Lexar Products Are What They Do

I'm an Electrical Engineer with over 35 years of experience, serving on a University Computer Engineering Advisory Board designing Solid State Drives/devices for various medical life support products. I have installed and/or used 32 SSDs from 11 brands and have found Lexar uSD cards and SSDs to be superior and deliver consistent read/write performance. I expect them to maintain their performance over the long term (2 years or more), but so far they've only had 6 months of experience with 11…

Easy to install, great price and great performance.

Easy to install, great price and performance. Easy to install (with bracket sold separately): It uses the same connectors as the replacement drive, but takes up much less space than the originally included 3.5" mechanical drive. Excellent value for money: Excellent value for performance and capacity. Performance: Huge difference per day after replacing my 3.5" 5400 rpm mechanical desktop drive with this Lexar SSD. Never again would I recommend a mechanical drive for everyday computing.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Too long to wait

A very inexpensive upgrade.

I bought a 128G drive to use as a Page drive on my 2012 HP. I also use it for Windows ReadyBoost. For the price, if you have an open SATA port on your motherboard and an open SATA port on your power supply, this is an affordable way to speed up an old PC. You need to go into the BIOS settings and use the Boot Order tab to select the drive (it's called Lexar) to initialize it so Windows can recognize it. After Windows starts, go to the This PC control panel and the drive will show up in red…

Cheap and powerful

My home server is booting a virtual hypervisor (minimalist software that basically lets you run multiple virtual machines at the same time ). The VMs it runs are installed and booted from other drives, so it only takes 8 gigabytes to boot (Vmware ESXI), which is why I use USB sticks. They work, but they're like lightbulbs, they burn out without warning. All of my server's SATA ports are already in use, so I bought this drive and a Neeyer brand SSD enclosure for a USB 3 adapter, which I also…

Pros

Used as an external SSD

I just received and installed an internal Lexar 128GB. I use it as an external file drive for my Chromebox and after formatting it works really well. I also have a 120GB PNY drive and they both appear to be made the same way. As for speed, I don't know. All I know is that it seems fast and I can put my files and music on it very easily. I plugged it into a USB hub with an on/off switch and plan to only use it to boot when needed, otherwise it's disabled most of the time. So far I'm happy with…

Pros
  • Limited 3 year product support
Cons
  • Wrinkled

Good value for money (but comes at a price!)

I bought several of these to put in my old laptops, the difference is gigantic; Windows and programs load much faster. Went with 128GB but would recommend at least 256GB (or more depending on your budget). The only reason I wouldn't give five stars is because I've spent time looking for [free] disk cloning/transferring software - most 'free' software available (EaseUS, MacriumReflect, Acronis ) disable the cloning feature unless you pay more than you paid to activate the drive. my disks were…
