Backing is about half as thin as the previous anti-slip tape it replaced, but it worked as expected. I won't know its durability until I've ridden it for another 10 years. Update: The original install was done on a warm, sunny day. I used a heat gun to heat the wood before applying and then heat the top of the tape and go over it for better adhesion. The only surface prep we did was brush with a long handled stiff brush and then sweep with a finer table brush to remove dust. I precut each strip of tape and cut the backing in half. We peeled off both backing strips about halfway and secured the tape at each end and placed about an inch from the edge of the step. After removing the rest
