Description of Lightspeed Zulu Aviation Headset HELICOPTER

Helicopter Version. U-174 (Single Plug). New contoured ear seals are designed to hug the curve of the jaw, reducing side pressure to get a more natural fit for more comfort and stability. These ear seals create 30-50% more space for the ear than other ANR headsets — a key feature of long-term user comfort. Zulu 3 is outfitted with new cables built around a Kevlar core, which are stronger, lighter, and more flexible than standard cables. Backed by an industry-best 7-year warranty from Lightspeed.

Don't worry about the straight cable - it's Kevlar.

I have 4 Zulu 2 coil cords and when I needed a new headset I was disappointed to find that the helicopter coil cord was no longer available. It has been replaced with a straight cable with Kelvar protection. I reluctantly ordered one, wondering how to deal with the extra straight cable I came across when using headphones with an airplane adapter. However, I was extremely surprised and pleased that the straight cable does NOT interfere and is not too long. Thanks again to Lightspeed for a great…

Bose vs. Zulu 3. My choice for the exit, Zulu 3!

I've tried both the Bose and Zulu 3 with the R44 door open (I'm doing aerial photography) and they seemed quieter AND less likely to trip the noise canceling when I'm shooting and keep my head close to the opening door. I like bluetooth (works great) and now I can listen to relaxing music while I work. Excellent, clear communication with my pilot and air traffic controller (I don't speak to the air traffic controller but I can hear him perfectly). My previous headset was the David Clarke noise…

  • Great design

Soft plastic will degrade and become sticky within 3-4 years

I bought this Zulu Aviation Headset about 5 years ago. They got a very proud, gentle, fairly light assignment for the first four years - about 200 hours of flight time on a leased plane. Each time they followed me home to keep in my flight bag. I took a sabbatical from flying last year and only recently pulled my flight bag out of the closet (which is in my air-conditioned home) to find that the plastic on the headset and controls had become sticky. At first I thought I did something wrong…
