scrap. I had low expectations and was still disappointed. The pivot screw was useless, forcing the search for the center of gravity between the sandbag and the light. Super annoying. Then, on the third use, this fitting just broke. Otherwise it's dandy.

Good budget boom. good for lighting

I use it as a gooseneck, sometimes for lighting, sometimes for a microphone, whatever I need. This is a good cheap option to have with you whenever you need it. It's not the most reliable option, but it gets the job done for a nice low price. I'm not sure I would use it as the main piece of my kit unless my budget was really limited. But it's perfect to keep in my pocket when I need an extra arrow.

Made for light work

I originally bought this for on site use so I wouldn't have to lug around a C-stand but I wouldn't trust this thing with a candy bar unless it was a candy bar not in a studio so I tend to use it with flashes outdoors or indoors to light the background or emphasize the subject. If you plan on using this to get over the head of a model or client, don't. For everything else please I am happy with my purchase.

Great product for the price

I was a bit concerned about the plastic fittings on some sections but I think the most important thing is to make sure the arm is properly balanced with the counterweight. If you are placing a very heavy light on the other end, make sure it is balanced so there is no stress on the locking arm preventing it from sagging. Simply turn on the light and hold it with your hand, then hang the counterweight and then move your hand until it balances itself on the stand. focus, right? Correct and evenโ€ฆ

Not for real photography with anything heavier than a flash with no modifier

I don't like writing bad reviews but I have Linco lighting stands and they are great value. However, this all-plastic linkage arm doesn't support weight without twisting. I couldn't get the cosmetic tray to hold its position (the arm's shaft rotates to let gravity win, so the ends of the softbox are pointing down). I got the connectors as tight as I could before they broke (I'm strong as a ox). In general, I threw 30 dollars at them. It might hold a screen or a reflector, but for all myโ€ฆ

Light rod, doesn't take much weight but good value for money - RECOMMENDED.

If you're trying to capture a reflector or foam diffusers, hot shoe light, etc., a milestone is the way to go. Will never work for a camera, key/fill light etc, it will likely bend and possibly break at the joints if too much weight is applied. Bought for $20 and it's a great fallback. Great value for money, especially with the sandbag. It currently shipped $24.99, which is probably the highest price I would recommend. I'm giving it 4 stars because the company claims it can hold 10lbs whichโ€ฆ

Super price with warning

Arrow selection in this price range is limited. However, I had low expectations for this product. When it arrived quickly, it seemed surprisingly well made at first glance. And considering the price. I have to believe the material cost of making it is pretty close to the price. I bought it to position my 80cm softbox for macro photography. It works well with one important warning. DO NOT put too much weight on the end of the boom! I have an 80cm softbox with two flashes inside which is fine but
