Excellent grip overall

Solid walnut handle that goes well with my ax head (with a little sanding!). It has a bit of varnish on it to make it waterproof but nothing special. Overall a great pen!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Protection

Good product. got my vote

The scout ax handle I received was exactly as described. With a little shaping to fit the ax head, it looks like new. The Scout ax I have is my official Boy Scout ax from the 1940's.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Got a 2nd quality handle

The eyelet of the handle had a large cut out and was cut with an offset under the wedge by about 8 degrees. I have replaced many cranks over the years and have always found the crank links to be of high quality but have been very disappointed.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Unfashionable

Wrong size for a 1-1/4 lb. Axe.

Arrived as expected. This item does not have enough wood at the end of the handle to be shaped for your axe. Essentially a useless stick shaped like an ax handle. A very specific ax might fit somewhere, but none of mine fit.

Pros
  • Fireproof surface
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

It's not one size fits all!

I bought this to replace the handle of my cobalt axe. The spliced end is much smaller than the ax I'm going to put on it. I'm going to get creative with some homemade wedges to see if I can get this to work. Just more attention for everyone else - I might save you some time.

Pros
  • For 1-1/4 lbs. Axes, 1-5/8" x 19/32"
Cons
  • Crumpled

Avoid. Wrong brand, bad fiber orientation, maybe not even hickory.

See photo. They didn't send a link descriptor - they sent a V&B descriptor. The orientation of the fibers is also in the wrong direction, meaning this thing can fall apart in use. The label doesn't even say it's hickory, and it doesn't look like much.

Pros
  • Contractor
Cons
  • Damaged
