Logan 701-1 Straight Cutter Elite: Perfect Tool for Precision Framing and Matting of Matboard and Foamboard Review

My dad always says that if you have the right tool for the job and it's the right tool, everything changes in the world! MUCH better than trying to cut with a utility knife or a hand knife. And when a local shop charges a dollar for a straight cut of their matte panels, you can see how it pays for itself in no time. Very satisfied!

I need a lot of practice with this before I can use it in a photo I like. There is some leeway for a few degrees from the 90 degree limit in each direction. There are probably experienced people who can easily apply this and get an absolutely perfect 90 degree cut. Using this with the Adapt-A-Rule (40") I find that it can easily rotate a few degrees either way. Practice makes perfect and I'm not giving up just yet.

Being the only straight trimmer that will work with the Logan matte board cutting system, my ability to make straight cuts (either with this or with a hand tool) was limited. Being an OEM product, I am disappointed with the ease of use and ease of use. The bevel cutting tool is much better constructed and holds the blade much better when cutting than a straight cutter. I agree with the reviewers who complain that the blade isn't sharp enough and the construction is weak. Good cut in one pass.
