It's a good thing for legacy systems

I bought the MX518 in 2006 for one of my first computer builds. A year ago it was perfectly in my hand. Button placement and placement felt like second nature. This new version feels and feels just like the one I bought in 2006. This mouse has survived 15 years of play, schoolwork and boredom. Hopefully this new one will last just as long if not longer. The only difference I can tell (besides the design and higher fidelity) is that the left and right click buttons are a bit louder and stiffer…

Pros
  • It has something to do with it
Cons
  • A little maintainability

Not as good as the original

Just wanted to preface this by saying that I've used Logitech mice for most of my life, starting with a couple of MX510's and MX518's. I was pleased to hear that they had re-launched the MX518 and ordered it as soon as they found out about it. I was very disappointed to say the least when I actually started using it. It had a familiar grip and weight, but the sensor is just awful. I can barely lift the mouse off the mat to keep the cursor from crashing. My 12 year old MX510 is still much more…

Cheap knockoff of an old model

I've been using the MX518 gaming mouse for about 15 years and I'm very happy with it. I had to replace it once during that time, but I was able to get the exact same model. I recently bought another one for my second computer, thinking it would be identical to the old model apart from a few minor cosmetic changes. As soon as I received the mouse, I could tell that it was a cheap copy of an old model. The old model feels nice and solid in the hand, and the new one feels like plastic garbage. The

Good mouse but doesn't fit MY hand very well

I like it like many other Logitech products I use but it's not very good. First off, let me say that for a 6 foot man I have rather small hands and short fingers. However, I must say that for a long time I have struggled to find a mouse that works well for me. The best I have ever used was the CM Storm Xornet. Love it. It fit my hand perfectly. The problem is they don't make them anymore. In any case, this mouse has a long protruding butt that rotates the mouse counter-clockwise in my grip…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Almost perfect for older systems

Every technical aspect of this mouse is great. I didn't even have to install any horrible apps to make it work. It's a nice size which is great as my hands are too. But the shape is a bit strange for me. I can't explain it, it just feels a bit awkward in my hand like I find with many bulky "gaming" mice. I actually prefer the shape of the much cheaper Redragon M601, but this mouse has its issues. Oh this reminded me that the Logitech MX518 works fine with my USB KVM but the Redragon M601…

Back to an old friend

I can't even begin to guess how many mice I've used in over 30 years of computing. Up until 2007, I used every mouse that came with the PCs we had at home and at work. Until 2007 we needed (I wanted) a second PC. My wife and daughter were happy with their Dell desktop and HP laptop, so I created my own desktop using an Eclipse II backlit keyboard and MX 518 mouse. I loved this keyboard and mouse. I've made a few upgrades over the years but in 2013 a power surge fried the MBs and I completely…
