They are MUCH thinner than I thought they would be, but they seem to do the job I needed them for. I bought several Talavera Pottery planters for both sides of my porch. They were expensive, and there's some petty theft in my area. I attached them to my porch railing with these cords. They are VERY EASY to cut but they are a bit of a deterrent to thieves and by then my dog can hear them and warn me! Judging by the picture, they are almost invisible, especially from the street.

With these cables we tried (and succeeded) to keep dog bowls in the common area. When dogs are done eating, they usually take away the dishes like toys. Nothing worked. This time we riveted the stainless steel eyecups to the stainless steel plates and then used those cables to attach them to the porch.
