UPDATE: I had to adjust the USB hanger settings and can't use my Type-C port. It works, but it's not ideal. Change from 1 star to 3. Disconnects from PC randomly all the time. Not sure if it's related to the hard drive or the case, but the hard drive used to be Windows and it worked fine.

The design does not allow you to remove the "cover" because there is no cover. This case is not a box like a glasses case. You must open one end and *insert* the chip into the box along with the thermal pad. That means the thermal pad has to stick to the box *and* the chip by design. After that, removing the chip becomes very difficult. When you do this, it often gets corrupted.
