This is a great drill, it is durable and comfortable. However, I returned it and traded it in for a Makita DS4011 1/2" drill, which has more amplifiers and better grips for the job I need it for (mixing clay and paper). Both drills worked great with a Bon 15 -187 24" carbon steel drill mixer with a 5" triple rib wheel which I bought for the same purpose. For normal drilling purposes the DP4000 would be great (you can never go wrong with a Makita) but for clay mixing and paper it was a littleβ¦

Quality product. So far I've used this drill for woodworking and cutting holes (1 to 1.5 inches) in sheet aluminum. It worked very well. The drill handle and side handle are comfortable and well-designed. When you pull the trigger, the drill accelerates smoothly and steadily at variable speeds. I could smell some sort of lubricant coming out of the drill bit at high speeds, but I assume this will wear off over time. The engine is well balanced internally, no vibrations. After my trusty 20-year-old Makita 6303 died (operator error, I) I needed a corded 1/2-inch drill bit. The contractor who worked for me bought a fake HF hole shooter and I laughed at him. It broke in half with a shovel within minutes (literally lucky it wasn't cut with plastic). Then he bought a 1/2" Milwaukee Holeshooter (Milwaukee 0234-6 Magnum) which although made in China was quite nice. Good size and smooth. The only downside to this drill was that the trigger was so long that it wasβ¦
