Description of Gray Manfrotto L Bracket Q2, Model MS050M4-Q2

Magnesium construction for lightness and durability. Anti-rotational system fits perfectly around the camera body. Innovative design gives the L bracket an especially thin profile.

Very good product but not perfect

For some time I have wanted a product that allows me to quickly switch between landscape and portrait mode when my camera is mounted on a tripod. I've seen some great products, but all of these options cost over $300 and that was money I didn't have to spend. After deciding on a Manfrotto tripod/monopod/ball head, I decided to stick with Manfrotto and bought an L. bracket. Plate does not latch securely

There are some very nice L-brackets for the Nikon D800 but they all seem to fit the Arca Swiss system. My tripod head is a Manfrotto RC2 (496RC2) so it won't fit. Although this mount has a "universal" design and isn't specific to the D800 (meaning you can't access the battery compartment without moving/removing the mount), I figured I could live with the inconvenience to be able to switch easily. Camera orientation from landscape to portrait while keeping the camera in the center of the tripod.

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Damaged

Best Handy Gadget for Photography and Photography

This is a handy gadget for serious tripod use. I recently learned of the value of this mount at a photography class I took. I also learned the importance of a tripod ball head. I've used a head with multiple adjustment knobs, a Manfrotto RC2 magnesium head with a quick connect plate, which is a good head, but I kept tweaking one knob or the other and when switching from landscape to portrait mode the camera was always on the Side. , clumsy and unbalanced. Then I became aware of this holder…
