Great leg set!

I use this tripod with my Matterport 3D camera and it easily supports extra volume! This is a very adjustable set of legs. and the installation and disassembly is very easy! Oh yeah. The high quality aluminum construction adds some weight to the legs and makes them very stable.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Legacy model

Great tripod and smooth head!

Bought to help with indoor and outdoor shooting, I use a Canon Vixia G20. This tripod is light enough to carry around, yet strong enough to shoot reliably in a variety of situations. I like the adjustment options on the head. Set and forget. I saw in the reviews that the head dangles. There is a set screw on the underside that needs to be pushed down to prevent this from happening. Read the instructions in Rule #1 for buying new products. I am happy with my purchase and will be using this for…

Pros
  • good stuff

Worth the money: Complete tripods

Very happy with this purchase. I was using an old aluminum tripod and wanted to upgrade it. I could have spent a lot of money on a better tripod, but I chose this one because I knew it would be a big step forward and not as expensive as more expensive tripods. I wasn't sure about the head at first so I bought a ball head but after some use I removed the ball head and put the 2 axis head back on. So far I like everything about this tripod. Love the durability, glad I got rid of my old aluminum…

Two years of heavy use and this tripod is still like new.

Two years ago I bought my son a Manfrotto 290 Xtra 3 section aluminum tripod with a fluid video head. He is an amateur photographer who occasionally sells some of his photographs to corporations and others. He has used this tripod non-stop for the two years he has owned it and it still works. He had no problem with it at all. It's stable, sturdy and the video head is fine. The tripod goes everywhere when there is a good photo opportunity and is not handled with kid gloves, but looks like new…

Quality tripod, don't listen to the "tripod head loose " reviews

Manfrotto are a great tripod manufacturer and this one is no exception. Stable tripod legs and a high-quality moving head that does not wobble and allows for easy tension adjustment. This tripod is absolutely worth its price. It shocks me how many people take a negative view of this tripod and say that their heads are loose. I guarantee most of these reviews were people who didn't bother to read the manual and expected their tripod head to just screw on and be ready to go. All Manfrotto tripods

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Don't really like it, everything is fine

Just like my old one!

Owned a previous Dual 290 for 4-5 years. It has been installed on beaches in Charleston, South Carolina, Naknek, AK, Dutch Harbor, AK, Seattle, WA and several other locations. He was tied to 4 wheels and drives far into the tundra. He's had a tough life. Foolishly lost. Replaced by this one. I like that it was a bit smaller than a double of the same design and I've never actually used the 90 degree flip feature. It seems to be of the same quality as my first tripod. I haven't taken it on any…

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Volume

I first bought a $100 carbon fiber tripod to save some money. I shoot a few larger lenses with the d750 from time to time, but some reviews said it coped well with professional gear. It was a decent tripod for the price, but not enough to trust professional gear. The fully extended legs were too flexible and didn't feel solid. Metals and plastics also seemed cheap. However, this one is amazing. The legs do not bend, light but strong, high quality metal, the leg fasteners are plastic but…

  • Certified
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Poor build quality

I'm a real estate photographer and the tripod design is just what I need to work quickly and efficiently. So 2 stars for the design, otherwise it would have gotten a 1. However, I've only had it a month and often one of the legs falls out of the tripod and I have to pick it up and put it back in. Put on and tighten the belts. This can be embarrassing, especially when dealing with expensive photo shoots. Hanging your leg on a $150 tripod for a month is just unacceptable. I don't handle my tripod

Pros
  • Shoulder bag included
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Quality workmanship Beside bag

A business partner and I switched to Manfrotto moving head from very cheap $25 plastic tripods. We can't say enough good things about this tripod! Pros: The leg locks never bind and the legs are always fully extended when you loosen the locks. It's terribly annoying when you think the tripod leg is fully extended, but it's not. The tripod is significantly taller compared to plastic tripods and much stronger at maximum height. separate straps sewn on top, connected with a knot with metal rings…

Pros
  • 4 leg angles
Cons
  • So far so good

Excellent legs, normal head.

290 XTA 3 piece kit Overview: Legs: It has protruding legs. They are very small, compact but so strong and can reach exceptionally large sizes! I have several Manfrotto tripods and have used many of them in Lubok and I'm telling you, these are my favorite tripod legs I've ever used hands down! Head: 3-way head is ok. It's well made and will likely last a long time, mainly made of metal and durable plastic. The only thing is when you adjust the angles it's a little jerky and hard to get in the…
