This impeller works well until the rubber end near the green end starts to loosen from wear as it spins, then the impeller stops spinning and the filter 'filters' " no more water. The impeller seems to last about half a year or less and then needs to be replaced.

I bought two impellers for my two 5 gallon hex fish tanks. They are the same as those that came with aquariums in internal filters. Sometimes they wear out and lose their full function, but are not defective. My original was about 18 months old. Revain had the best price.

Ordered two. Marineland was sold out so I went to Revain. I think it's seconds or defective. The first one never started, noisy no matter how I put it in the filter block, it was noisy like something was wrong. The bottom rubber "cap" was always misaligned or warped, every time I cleaned it I had to readjust it, never had to do this with an impeller. I replaced it with the second one I ordered and one of the rubber caps was completely missing. Doesn't work without it so I used one of the caps…
