Good hard drive - long install

This hard drive is fast and fairly quiet. Installation was easy, apart from the fact that the drive had to be formatted after installation - quite a lengthy process for 500GB. I think it was good value for money.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Something's wrong

Not very reliable with computers and accessories

I've only had issues with Maxtor hard drives and now that they're owned by Seagate they don't seem to be improving at all. I bought this 500GB SATA II internal hard drive last November and it started dying in less than 60 days. When you turn on the computer, you may hear the drive trying to start, but that's all it does. I have to restart my computer more than 20 times before the drive actually starts. Luckily for me I was able to get it working before it died completely. I wouldn't recommendโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Crappy Hard Drive on Computers and Accessories

This is the first time Maxtor has let me down. I always buy Maxtor and this drive let me down. I thought it would be fast because of its sata II, well not at all. Second, it crashed in less than a week. Please don't waste your money on this, please don't do this. The problem started with a freeze while loading and then when I was playing my games they crashed. I've since bought a new SATA II hard drive for less than $60 and guess what, it runs faster and smoother. a good disk if it would bootโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Replacement Availability

cheap and fast: Internal hard disks

I have it on my computer as a second hard disk in IDE mode, maybe I'll convert it into a RAID hard disk at some point. I wanted to dual boot with Vista 64 and 32 bit but it didn't happen. Otherwise it works perfectly and is as good as any other hard drive. Maxtor HD didn't work for me before, but this one works fine.

Pros
  • Makes you feel good
Cons
  • For pensioners

Excellent Drive - Computers and Accessories

For the price and capacity, this is an amazing drive. Pretty fast, reliable and most importantly quiet. I am very pleased. I will definitely buy the next disc from the manufacturer.

Pros
  • Hands-free
Cons
  • Doubtful

Lasts 5 years for internal hard drives

This drive failed after 5 years (purchased January 26, 2009). I lost all my data that was not backed up. Weekly backup offer when using any hard drive - YOU NEVER KNOW. Maybe 5 years is the lifespan of a hard drive. dunno lol

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • Not the best
