yes it works, i took a lot of photos with this diffuser (i use transparent more) if not far (i use Metabones SpeedBooster + 50mm 1.8 EF) and use ambient and fill light, you can get some cool portrait shots; but yes it could be a bit bigger or improve the direction the light goes.
