Nice case but covers microphones

I had no problems with the case preventing the screen from opening or otherwise damaging the computer. You just need to make sure the top cover is in place properly and you can open the screen to about 170 degrees, which is less than a full 180 degrees without the case. But I really can't think of a use case where I would need a monitor lid fully open and pressed against a table. The real problem is that Lenovo's 7th gen redesign is to replace the 2 mic holes on the front next to the front…

It will damage your laptop!

I've been waiting for this company to come out with this product for 4 months because they seem to be the only company that makes hardcover cases for the X1 Carbon series. I noticed last week that they finally released this product and placed my order. First, the clear coat has a rainbow effect and is cloudier in some areas than others. Aesthetics aside, I noticed an odd rub when opening and closing my laptop. I decided to take a look between the bottom of the screen and the bottom of the…

Beware of this case! Can easily damage or break screen hinges!

This was mentioned by another reviewer but it wasn't entirely clear what the problems with this case were. While it fits, this case severely limits the range of motion of the screen - it becomes impossible to open the screen more than 90 degrees and the hinges are easily damaged; Two photos are included showing the problem - normal range of motion of the screen and limited maximum range of motion after turning on the case. Unfortunately, this makes it unusable for my purposes and for anyone who

Good case for Thinkpad X1 - IF you upgrade it

This is a decent case for the money. As other reviewers point out, the laptop will NOT open more than 90 degrees with the underside of the lid in place. It is disappointing and surprising that the lid manufacturer has NEVER attempted to open a laptop with the bottom lid in place. I don't blame the lid entirely, as the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Gen 7 has a unique hinge layout that allows the laptop to open 180 degrees. The good news is that a slight cut on the bottom cover allows the laptop to open 180

Pros

Cons
  • No

If Skiwulf hadn't mentioned an easy fix I might not have bought this item. The photos in her post were also very helpful. It is still connected to the laptop well. If I have time I will sand down the area I cut so there are no jagged edges, but this isn't really necessary as the area is so small and the way I use and carry my laptop, not likely to get caught on anything - anything or bite into my skin or clothing. Mods are really fun.

  • Poor set

very good just what i needed

not sure why other reviewers said it jammed hinges. it's not like this. I have a 7th Gen Thinkpad X1 Carbon and everything fits like a glove. A plus is the small folding legs on the back, which keep the laptop at a slight angle to you when it's extended, which is nice.

  • hands free operation

  • reliability

Does the job, I'm even more in love with my Thinkpad gen8.

Job done, I'm even more in love with my 8th gen Thinkpad. It fits perfectly and is also transparent so you still get the carbon fiber design. More importantly, it adds another level of durability to the laptop itself.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Too long to wait

Unusable bottom case, ok top case

I have to agree with other reviews that the bottom half of this case restricts the laptop's freedom of movement so much that it's unusable in any ergonomic position. If you maybe surpass 105 degrees you start scratching the screen against the bottom of the case. Personally, I'll probably ditch the case as I like having the top of the case to protect the screen and add a little protective edge, and the top of the case doesn't interfere with mobility or damage the laptop. I suggest looking at the
