When you look at this lens, you must understand that it was created only for limited purposes, but to achieve them. It's heavy and solidly built. I expect it to work fine as a macro, but this is my first "design" for it, and my skills won't give you technical analysis.

I used this on my Canon EOS R for some macro focus stacks. Nice and sharp. This actually makes a good portrait image, but still focuses fairly close and has an aspect ratio of 1.5:1. The bokeh is rendered very nicely and I didn't notice any of the odd haze or flare that is usually seen with cheaper glass see is. This is the first macro lens I've found for the RF mount and it's still a workhorse to this day. Very durable construction. All-metal body and very muted focus and macro rings.
