Getting strong after 10 years!

We bought this lock for our elderly grandmothers about 10 years ago when they were 4 and 2 years old. After many years of playing and some "rest" we unpacked it today. Our younger grandchildren (5 and 1 year old) were delighted with his discovery! The drawbridge and trapdoor in the dungeon were favorites. They put in Little People animals and people and Lego dinosaurs! Our elderly grandpas led the Brio train around the castle with dragons and pirates on the train attacking the princesses and my

Favorite toys are best in dollhouses

Of course, Melissa and Doug are known for their quality toys, and this castle is no exception. Very durable and beautifully finished, it was my 8 year old son's favorite toy and even his 3 year old sister. We also bought an Imagenex ghost figure and some knights to complete this set and it was amazing. The castle has enough painted detail to make it look great, but not so much that it gets in the way of the imagination. I also like that the lock opens and closes for storage and one of the…

It's okay, but they love it.

My boys love to play knights so I bought them this for Christmas. It was packed very well. They love it and they play with it. However, I want this company to do a better wood sanding job. Pieces of wood stick out from all over the castle. My boys haven't gotten splinters from playing with it yet, but I have from playing with it. The stairs are slowly detaching from the side wall. However, there is nothing that wood glue cannot fix. But for the price, I'd rather sand this lock down and have the

Fantastic 1st "dollhouse "

My oldest daughter (3 1/2) asked for a Barbie dollhouse for Christmas. I thought a dollhouse would be fine, but I didn't want anything too pink, plastic, and "branded". I wanted something she could play with with whatever dolls she had on hand. I first noticed the pink version of the princess on Revain. I got the "boyish" version for three reasons. 1) It's more like historical castles (except Neuschwanstein) which makes it more educational. 2) she has never seen the pink version so she doesn't…

UPDATE: As of 01/13/2019 the lock has been dismantled to the trash. I can't even get it to our local Salvation Army. It is so terrible that children can hurt themselves on it. Purchased on 04/04/2018. A whole corner of the castle was recently demolished. The whole tower just fell down when my son put his figures in it. The landing door also broke as it was held on by a tiny piece of 1/8" dowel that wasn't even long enough for this application, it had to be 1/2" longer so it broke immediately…
