"Reliable Blank Media for Computers!

This blank media is reliable and perfect for storing important information on your computer! The size is great for larger files and the quality is impressive. However, since it's discontinued, it can be hard to find in stores. Overall, I highly recommend this blank media for anyone needing to backup their computer's contents.

Pros
  • Good quality DVD burner for data storage
Cons
  • Limited availability due to being discontinued by the manufacturer

Works best with DVD-RWs

This product works great. In order to use this DVD-RW as a data disc, it must first be formatted. I used Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Direct CD Format Utility. After formatting, the hard drive holds 5.4 to 5.5 GB. I'm not sure DVD-RWs make other removable media obsolete since the write times are different than hard drives or Iomega drives, but when you consider the portability and physical storage space, this solution is pretty hard to beat.

Cons
  • Minor issues

Memorex DVD+RW works with Sony DRU-500a

I have used this medium without any problems, although it is not officially supported by Sony. I updated the hard drive firmware to 1.0f. The media plays on Daewoo, Apex, and Go Video DVD players when burned with Sonic MyDVD, as well as on my Liteon DVD-ROM drive. I don't know what problems the previous reviewer had, but I burned five with no problems and will be buying more in the future. The Sony disc that comes with the drive works, but typically costs twice as much as Memorex.
