For the price unbeatable.

unbeatable for the price. The only downside is the slow shipping from Amazon. After waiting a week I received an email saying it was on standby and after that it took me about 4 or 5 days to receive it.

DVD Recorder Review in DVD Players & Recorders

If you are looking for an affordable DVD Recorder with good performance then this is the one for you. I was able to install on a Windows XP and Windows Vista PC with no software or hardware compatibility issues. The included software is good enough to get you started.

Pros
  • Regular Price
Cons
  • No Performance

Software not what I thought

It comes with Nero 6 software which is not very good or easy to use for most applications. I had to buy other software to get the full potential of the drive, and that software didn't come cheap. With other software, however, the DVD drive itself has become a worthwhile investment.

Pros
  • Lots of good vibes
Cons
  • No color required

Excellent DVD recorder

I have been using this drive for over 7 months now and have not had a single complaint about it. It's fast, reliable, and has a cool design, although I can't see it because my HP computer case covers the drive bay door (blue light is cool). I have yet to burn a dual layer DVD, but single layer speeds are good. Also, I was even able to read some scratched DVDs that my old DVD-Rom couldn't read. And the price is great. Good choice for internal DVD burner.

It just works!

I had endless trouble with the more expensive DVD recorder: music was skipped, DVDs were distorted, software could not be installed. I haven't tried everything Memorex can do - like double layering - but it did everything I wanted without any complaints. It was nothing but a sigh of relief! I didn't even try to install the included Nero software. I paid good money for it but it has had a few failures in the past. I used multiple restore points until I uninstalled the Nero software and…

Fine while it lasted

Sometime in 2007 I bought two of these discs. One was the internal version and the other was the external USB. Both used the same disc, labeled MRX-510L. Since then I've used them fairly regularly, recording discs of all types and brands. These include various untitled RW CDs and DL DVDs from el-cheapo. Over the years, I don't think I've had more than two severe burns. Unlike other drives that can be picky about which brands they like and don't like, the Memorex drive is a reliable workhorse…
