Excellent quality and waterproof

My 7 year old loves them. We bought them for hiking and he also used them for horseback riding. He says they are very comfortable and fit as expected.

Pros
  • Available in multiple sizes for growing feet.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with knee or back problems.

Ideal for active children!

These shoes are great for my almost 7 year old! These shoes are perfect for hiking our local Quarry Nature Reserve or hiking around Lake Superior! Definitely recommend!

Cons
  • May not be suitable for all terrains

Merrell's are the best

Great fit and my son loves them. Says these are his favorite shows he's ever had. Totally waterproof, tested many times in Chicago snow/mud.

Pros
  • I ordered them for my son, they fit perfectly
Cons
  • Size range limited

they are not waterproof

Bought these shoes for my daughter to go hiking. There were spots where it was wet and the shoes leaked water. The shoes fit well and there have been no complaints of pain caused by the shoes themselves. We did some tough hikes the first two days of the trip and they held up very well.

Pros
  • Beautiful and comfortable shoes! Ideal for hiking and on rainy days. My daughter loves her.
Cons
  • May not be true to size

Mixed feelings in my head

I have mixed feelings about shoes. My daughter wore the smaller size and she loved it. Since she got bigger, we bought the same model but in a larger size (7.5). The fit was just as good and she loved it at first. However, after a few weeks of moderate hiking, the sole has started to wear down and her feet now feel like something hard is going through the sole.

Pros
  • A trusted brand name offers parents peace of mind.
Cons
  • May not provide adequate cushioning

What happened to Merrell's excellent arch support?

I've always loved the Merrils for their quality construction and great support. Maybe kids don't care, but adults with small feet need quality shoes with good support. It was a big disappointment! No arch support and poor stitching around the edges of the tongue. Since when does Merrill sell junk?

Pros
  • I like shoes - they sit on the leg. One thing I didn't pay attention to was the laces.
Cons
  • Medium quality materials.

More like tennis shoes than hiking shoes.

Not what I expected. Sent back due to fit. My granddaughter had the same ones and they weren't very good for walking - they slipped over rocks and looked more like tennis shoes with big rubber toecaps.

Pros
  • We've been camping all over South Dakota and my 6 year old son has never complained about being hurt or hot.
Cons
  • Limited availability in stores

Not waterproof at all! But great boots

They are excellent as hiking shoes, durable, flexible and comfortable shoes. However, we were very disappointed that they didn't keep our feet dry! Completely soaked! I unfortunately find it unfair that they are advertised and labeled as waterproof when they are clearly not waterproof. I have contacted Revain customer service and I hope they can find a good solution for us.

Pros
  • They're probably not waterproof, but my kids love them. Merrell always delivers.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for people with foot problems.

Not as pictured - no velcro

Great shoes but not as pictured. I was looking for something with velcro like in the photo but the real shoe didn't have velcro and had traditional laces instead.

Pros
  • Well made and my son loves them
Cons
  • The rubber starts to wear out after a few socks.

Something is wrong 🧐

I was so excited to get these as a prime day deal but think they might be reproductions. The edges are frayed, glue is visible, there is no branding on the insole. My daughter has a pair of Merrels and I have compared them and she has no issues and there is a brand name on the insoles. We're going on a hike soon and he needs it or I'd be back.

Pros
  • I bought this pair of shoes for my fourteen year old daughter. She likes them very much. Recommend!
Cons
  • Not designed for heavy hiking

It's tough! to my rating.

Bought these for our granddaughter when she plays with the neighbors kids on a sleepover weekend. She wears them in the stable, at the pond and through muddy puddles. I throw them in the wash and they are like new!

Pros
  • Breathable materials prevent foot odor and discomfort.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for indoor use

Great shoes for kids

I used to think that the cheap Chinese branded shoes you see everywhere at Revain are a good deal and that these famous brands aren't worth the extra money. I couldn't be more wrong with these shoes. Now I have bought my 5 year old two pairs of these sneakers in different colors. The first pair is still valid after being worn to school every day for the past 2.5 months! In my experience so far, we've been lucky if a pair of shoes lasted a month without falling apart. These were absolutely…

Pros
  • Rubber sole
Cons
  • Crumpled

Good sturdy shoes for your little buddy!

I bought these shoes for my 6 year old son and he loves them! We have taken these boots on hiking trips and they hold up really well. The profile and overall quality of the shoe is what I would expect from Merrell. My son loves playing in the creeks which usually gets his shoes wet. These shoes will get wet if sufficiently submerged in water, but they dry fairly quickly in front of a fan. Late in the evening the bright orange accents are very visible which is an added bonus for visibility. My…

Pros
  • 100% leather
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models

Fantastic hiking shoes

I buy these every year for my son who turns 10 this year. They are very durable, comfortable and we love that there are no laces although he can tie his shoes lol. The dog has been chewing on our current pair which is why we love them so much I will actually be buying him another pair. They are waterproof, not waterproof. In them, your children's feet will stay dry on a hike, even if you have to cross a small stream. They keep your feet warm and dry in winter, but are also perfect for summer. I

Pros
  • Waterproof design to protect feet from moisture
Cons
  • Long delivery time
