DO NOT add hot water. it's just cold When I saw that a newer version of the GP800820 was available I rushed to order it at lightning speed. She was easy to replace. She works. Now I control the temperature of the water. I can shower or bathe at any of my favorite temperatures. Finally Kohler free! Free at last.

After 6 years of regular use, the shower handle stopped responding linearly. That means I would have to turn the handle all the way to get hot water, but then it would be too hot. And then when I try to lower the temperature by turning it back, it doesn't respond until I turn it much closer to the cold side, and then it suddenly gets too cold. Replacing it fixed the issue.

For several years we were unable to control the temperature of our Kohler shower valve. It would be too hot and then immediately too cold if you try to fine tune the temperature. After installing the KohlerGP800820 Rite-Temp Pressure Compensation Cartridge, the transition from cold to hot and back will be fluid. I highly recommend this solution. The parts replacement took about twenty minutes.

Item arrived on time and in the original Kohler packaging with all required o-rings and gaskets. Solved my problem with water being totally cold or totally hot, and it was $22 less than buying from a big store. Installation was very easy, using a screwdriver and pliers. Note: This is an exact replacement for part #GP500520 so don't worry if it doesn't look like the old (boxy) part. It still fits perfectly.

I replace both the mixing valve and this balancing valve at the same time. While this helped, we still don't get as hot water from the Kohler shower valve as from the nearby sink, yes I set the "temperature" limiter on the handle to the maximum but still useless. I think Kohler needs better engineering or an updated maximum temperature policy. Since that's in the wall I have no choice but to reconsider Kohler on any remodel as I'm not impressed.

The pressure compensation unit worked perfectly. The old one came off easily and the new one was very easy to install after cleaning the old valve body of the remnants of the old one. I give this genuine Kohler part five stars, but I have some advice for new buyers: buy a small amount of silicone grease, as the small capsule of silicone grease that comes with the kit is not enough to completely cover the new o-rings. are on top of the world and so happy it was an easy part exchange! Like many others, I first bought the GP77759 hoping it would stop the leak. It's not like this. I cleaned the brass contact surface on the back of the case with Scotchbrite and damp 1200 grit sandpaper. It was still dripping. So I broke down and bought this device to replace the GP500520 that came with the device. This fixed my leak. 800820 is a direct replacement for 500520. I am optimistic and give this cartridge 4 stars. I tried 2 old model pressure equalization cartridges and each only lasted 2-3 years before it became impossible to regulate the temperature and the knob became harder to turn. I've never had any of the leaks that others have reported (knock on wood). This cartridge installs just as easily or even easier than the old model and instantly fixes the temperature issue and seems to have more pressure. I really just hope this newer model lasts longer…
