Tough shoes in my opinion

I bought these for my almost 8 year old son who has rough shoes. Looks like they will hold up to some wear and tear. They appear sturdy and well made. The sole is pretty thick. Hopefully they last a while (or until he outgrows them).

Pros
  • Padded collar and tongue for extra comfort
Cons
  • Merrell Trail Chaser hiking shoes are not suitable for people who are on their feet all day.

grandson loved it!

I ordered them for my grandson for Christmas. I got them about 1/2 size larger than requested because grandma knows how fast these kids feet grow. However, he put them on and didn't want to take them off. Hope they hold up well.

Pros
  • Offers good value for money
Cons
  • Merrell Trail Chaser hiking shoes are not suitable for people with high arches.

Great value in my rating

We have bought these in various sizes for my son over the past few years. They are durable and hold up well even at summer camp. It's great that the wide width option is too hard to find. And I love velcro so no need to tie. A very desirable feature for the special needs community!

Pros
  • A tiempo y en perfecto estado
Cons
  • The Merrell Trail Chaser hiking shoes do not offer enough foot support.

The insole wore out within two months

My 7 year old wore these shoes as regular school wear for two months. I checked them out today to make sure they were in good condition and couldn't believe the insoles were completely worn out in the meantime. I expected more from Merrell.

Pros
  • Love the color and fit. Hoping she gets a pair of m ok nyah when they wear out.
Cons
  • Velcro has come loose. can't wear shoes now.

Not the expected quality.

They were bought as school shoes for my grandson. After only two months of wearing, the insole was completely worn out. This also caused holes in his socks. I've always been a fan of Merrell shoes, but not this pair?

Pros
  • Has a non-slip outsole for extra grip on uneven terrain.
Cons
  • Merrell Trail Chaser hiking shoes are not designed for hot weather.

Comfortable and durable: my rating

I liked it for my daughter because she pays hard. These shoes have kept up with her and I'm impressed. Even walked through mud and came out clean. Two thumbs up!

Pros
  • Very good walking shoes! My son wears them on one of the Smoky Mountain trails and loves them! Very comfortable and well made
Cons
  • Merrell Trail Chaser hiking shoes wear out quickly.

Day 2 and the threads are already coming out

My 5 year old son has a hard time with shoes like most 5 year old boys. He's only had it 2 days before threads are sticking out and he reports that he slipped with them on the playground. I'm worried they won't last. The bottom feels very solid and the reviews are good so I'm hoping but we'll see.

Pros
  • Provides good arch support to prevent foot fatigue and pain.
Cons
  • The Merrell Trail Chaser hiking shoes do not absorb shock very well.

Childproof! Almost indestructible

Boys wear out faster than you can imagine, but not these! They wear forever, who would have thought we could wear them! That's my review.

Pros
  • Offers an adjustable fit with a Velcro strap.
Cons
  • The Merrell Trail Chaser hiking sneakers are too wide for some people.

Good fit and feel.: my rating

If you have flat feet, wide, sturdy shoes are important. I found boys' shoes sturdy and wide at the toe to fit me. Arch supports are used in all my shoes.

Pros
  • Bought as a gift and thought it was great!
Cons
  • Merrell Trail Chaser hiking shoes are prone to slipping and slipping on wet surfaces.

Poor quality, the best in my rating

They fall apart after a month of use! Of course, this is only after the return of the window ... very disappointed. Now I'm stuck trying to re-glue the soles.

Pros
  • Just good shoes. Excellent support and breathability. My son's feet sweat a lot but not inside them.
Cons
  • The Merrell Trail Chaser hiking shoes are uncomfortable for long periods of time.

Falling apart on my rating.

Bought these for my 7 year old son. He's been wearing them for 2 months and the sole of the shoe has completely detached from toe box to arch on one foot and the other is starting to come off. I thought Merrell was a quality shoe brand, but found out otherwise.

Pros
  • Provides excellent support and stability when hiking
Cons
  • The Merrell Trail Chaser hiking sneakers don't have enough cushioning.

LARGE size and TRANSPARENT material used

EDIT - These shoes didn't even last 6 months of use! The velcro at the top has ripped off which is why they look so dirty and ugly. I have changed my rating from 5 stars to 1 star. VERY expensive for a 6 month old or younger. My son has wide feet and finding shoes for him is ALWAYS HARD! Sometimes wide shoes don't suit him! Glad these fit! Difficult to find as we only look for pure materials. These are nice, clean and wide. Thanks Merrell for making them! Just bought it, so can't say much about

Pros
  • hiking shoes
Cons
  • cord is shorter than other models

Overall good shoe, low quality insole

This is a great shoe that fits well overall. The only complaint I have had with two pairs for my son is that the insole wears out very quickly. The fabric and lining wear out completely in the heel area, exposing the heel. I've bought at least a dozen Merrills over the years and have never had an experience like this. I've never had children's performances that have worn out inside in 2-3 months if there was still a significant amount of time outside. This problem can be partially solved byโ€ฆ

Reliable Excellent Stylish

Bought these blue/grey/green size 10 for young children and they fit well. Lasts longer than his foot was that size when my son was 3 1/2 years old. Now he is 5 years old, he is incredibly active and starts to run 5 km. However, they are very durable, supportive and excellent. We now have a size 12 and a third pair of Merrell's Only because it keeps growing! I don't see the signs of daily "wear and tear" that I've seen with less durable shoes that show scuffs if you look at them for too longโ€ฆ
