Goes well with my third generation Miata

Upgraded my receiver in my 2008 PRHT MX-5 Miata and needed a new kit to complete the project. For the NC Miata (3rd generation, 2006-14) they sell two models from these kits. I used this kit in my NC1 '08 ('06-08), later I changed the center console to NC2 ('09-14) and it still works. I don't think there is a difference between the two sets they sell. I recommend buying the cheaper one to save a few bucks.

Can fit better and mount more securely

Stronger single DIN ISO carriage bolts that attach very securely to the stereo but simply snap onto the surround. Feels ok but would prefer to be screwed in like OEM. Still better than a thin metal case with folding tabs. The fit on mine was a little off and didn't sit exactly flush with the top of the dash where the alarm button is. It does the job but could be better. At least the sleeve is pretty deep and useful.

does not fit Atoto main unit.

The main unit has 2 small screws that protrude from each side and prevent the unit from snapping into place. I filed and cut the plastic to create a relief but then found that the frame is the wrong size and flexes when the main unit is slid into position making it impossible to attach the SA lock, so I'm thinking about gluing the frame/head unit in place but thought I'd post my frustration in hopes someone found a solution to this problem.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance

Looks great on my 2006 Mazda Miata

Looks great on my 2006 Mazda Miata although it's a bit confusing. I used it to install double din, call me stupid, but for all my life I couldn't figure out how to install it by looking at the instructions. I know, I know, after I figured it out, why did it take so long? MAKE SURE WHEN YOU CUT THE CENTER BRACKET YOU GET ALL THE PLASTIC SPRINGS CUT FOR SOFT! This is where I made a mistake, realizing that everything fitted together. I hope this helps someone avoid hours of frustration.

  • Easy setup

excellent product for electric

Good quality item, all parts included for single or double din installation, build quality is very good, instructions are clear. I have not yet customized or recolored the current dashboard, but will do so when I return from a trip abroad (I will update my review once I have customized the device). So far very happy with the purchase, especially given the quality and price. Update: Installed a Pioneer 2 Din radio and it works great for both radio and dash. Color and workmanship are top. It was…

Decent fit and finish; easy assembly into NC MX5 Miata

Decent fit and finish; easy installation in NC MX5 Miata I used the Metra dashboard kit to install a new head unit in my Miata. The fit and finish is fine and everything is fine. It's a bit proud of the top edge, but it's flat side-to-side and flush on the left and right sides. (I think the standard faceplate is, too.) My single DIN deck came with a DIN mounting cage, but I opted for plastic ISO-DIN brackets, fitted on the sides and a clip in the faceplate to be attached. Much more reliable and
