Very good workmanship and great sound

I was looking for a suitable loudspeaker microphone for my MD-380. Not only was it inexpensive, but I use it a lot and it's pretty solid. It sounds good in the air, and the radio frequency doesn't get into the microphone wiring. I mention this because cheap, poorly made doubles can sound terrible due to RF overload.

Pros
  • Super price
Cons
  • Without automatic

The PTT button is a little soft

My MD-380 has a good, loud, clear sound. Makes a solid and well-constructed impression. The swivel clip works well and holds onto the vest well. On the other hand, the PTT button is a bit soft and squishy. Not a nice crisp click like Motorola. It will take a little time to find a good middle ground for this device. The button doesn't always turn on when you press it off-center.

Cons
  • There are problems

Identical to BTech QHM22 microphone (but a few dollars cheaper)

TYT MD-380 (WITHOUT "Powerboat"). The sound of TX and RX is clear. The TX sound level is good. The build quality seems satisfactory (I did not disassemble it). Another comment said the PTT wasn't accurate, but my "click" is crisp and clear. This mic is identical to the BTech QHM22 mic I already had. Only the nameplate and the model number differ. 3.5mm mono headphone jack. The description says 2.5mm in one spot and 3.5mm, but it's exactly 3.5mm. If you plug a stereo headset/earphone into it…

  • Handy item

Easy to use good clarity

I am currently using this mic with a Baofeng UV5R radio. I use it for deployment with my CERT team, mainly on UHF. I can hear other radios clearly, as well as the more expensive radios that others use. For some reason, the base station hears me more clearly than when I use the built-in wireless microphone. The only thing I don't like and it's not the mic's fault, I hope someone can find a solution to make the PTT switch on the radio turn off when the mic is connected. The Baofeng's range tests…

  • Best in its niche
