I am currently using this mic with a Baofeng UV5R radio. I use it for deployment with my CERT team, mainly on UHF. I can hear other radios clearly, as well as the more expensive radios that others use. For some reason, the base station hears me more clearly than when I use the built-in wireless microphone. The only thing I don't like and it's not the mic's fault, I hope someone can find a solution to make the PTT switch on the radio turn off when the mic is connected. The Baofeng's range tests with the mic were good, up to five miles on flat terrain and obstacles along the way. Over 5 miles it can be both a hit and miss, but the mic improves TX and RX clarity. I used it in the rain and had no problems. I also like that it is compatible with other 2-pin portable radios. The clip is strong and rotates 360 degrees. I would buy it again if I needed a different microphone. Another user commented on the length of the cable. I'm 6-3 years old, I have the radio on my right hip and I loop it on my left shoulder behind my back to the mic loop or neck lanyard and clip it on. Before I had a mic loop, I had to attach it to the breast pocket of my life jacket. Any configuration works, although the left shoulder is optimal for me. I find the cable length suitable for most people.
