Easy-to Use Tool For Communication: minicom

We use this in our school district to connect students with teachers via an interactive whiteboard. It also allows for audio between teacher/student meetings, as well as video via web cameras that are set up within classrooms or at large group activities. The only thing I am not happy about so far is my experience using it in schools. Some of these connections can take quite awhile to establish! Multiprotocol Telnet Server: minicom

I like how it allows you to connect to multiple devices at once (even if they don't have the same protocol). It's easy to setup, and runs on almost any platform. There are some quirks that aren't really explained in the manual, but are easily found after a bit of trial and error. You can also use minicom as a virtual terminal for your operating system.
