I knew the trike was small because I have another similar one but the description that it was 2-4 years old was inaccurate. I would say 1-2 years for this trike. I had a 3 year old trying to ride it and it was too big. His knees banged against the steering wheel as he tried to pedal. What bothers me the most are the pedals. After reading all the negative reviews I was hesitant to buy it but I'm glad I made it for $25 it is Perfect. That's small. It's light and probably won't hold up well outside but for my 2 year old daughter who is 26lbs it's perfect, she loves it. Ideal for learning to ride a pedal boat. This was the worst product I have ever bought on Amazon. The rubber doesn't hold, according to the instructions the caps should be hammered onto the axle. They fall off immediately. I had 5 people who thought maybe I was too weak but they need to be soldered or they would screw up if they were smart. Completely dissatisfied with this tricycle. My 2 year old daughter can easily reach the pedals. However, I was concerned (she is a bit small). This little tricycle is adorable! It even has several different sound effects when you press the button. I went the cheaper route and bought "new but box is damaged" at the Revain clothing store, knowing I'd have it wrapped for Christmas, so the box didn't matter.
