Do not buy for docking and anchoring gear

Used worked great once. 2nd time I dropped anchor and tried to anchor; The relay on the circuit board has burned out. Then I started researching and found out that the Minnkota dealership in the Twin Cities sells over 134 new circuit boards a year. The product has a problem.

25ft pontoon with #30 anchor

Put on my 25ft pontoon with #30 anchor. It is much easier and safer to lower the anchor and most importantly to raise it. I installed a winch on the bow (front) and asked the local NAPA store to add 8 gauge wires with wet strength ferrules to connect to the battery in the power section (rear). Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Free for educational use

  • Upgradeable

Requires more than a 20 lb anchor

Nice car. I think I should lift my anchor for that. The anchor drops but after about 10 feet I need help pulling the rope off the spool. Not difficult, just enough to keep going. When the anchor is pulled up, the sound seems to jump through the cogs of the wheels. I don't know if this is normal. I paid more to install on the boat than the deck so I can't take it off.

very strong for sports

This device is processed to a very high standard. After reading other bad reviews from other manufacturers, I decided it was worth adding $50 to buy one that won't let you down. The two screw holes are located under the motor and are difficult to access. Stamina and the gimbal did the trick. Again, I'm so glad I bought this with a 30lb river anchor and it holds my 20ft pontoon boat against the current of the Cumberland River.

Anchor away with ease.

Excellent windlass. Also bought a remote switch for this winch.1. Push the rocker switch to the lowest position and release - the anchor lowers and stops with some play.2. Set the toggle switch to the off position and lock the winch.3. Press and hold the toggle switch in the up position - the anchor will be raised and placed in the dock in a horizontal position. Back to the off position. You can then flush the anchor with an electric pump sprayer (my next .marine purchase).

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • No automatic

Great but faulty rope on mine

I really like this device. It was easy to install on my pontoon and works well. I immediately tested it in ten feet of water at my dock with my 27 pound anchor and everything was fine. Then I used it once at a depth of twenty-five feet. No problem. A week later I used it in forty feet of water and noticed that the outer yellow portion of the nylon anchor line was split or torn and a 5-6 foot white section was exposed under the line. I think I can only replace it with a better one. I'm sorry I…

Ideal for fishing!

First of all, I don't write reviews so it's unusual for me to say something good or bad, but something this practical needs to be shared. I'm sure you will see many of these on fishing boats in the near future. You can do the same thing, maybe better, with a point lock or utility poles, which cost about $3,000. I've only used mine a few times but so far I can't ask for more from this anchor. Rapid Deployment and Rapid Deployment. I paint until I find a fish, hit the switch, and I stay there…

Wrap it wrong! Only worked for a trip to the lake!

Ok Everything works now thanks to me!. Let me explain that I have never owned a windlass before when I bought this (deckhand 40). I was new to this concept. By the way, without removing the engine from the base, make a template and put a piece of cardboard under it. cheap pin and bend it 1 inch from the end at a 90 degree angle, then melt it a bit with a lighter to hold it in place and go around any hard to reach holes. Sorry I'm incoherent. I have a YouTube video, check it out! Probably a cute

Newly installed, good quality.

I have a MinnKota Deckhand 40 installed on my Tracker ProGuide V175 with remote derailleur and 30lb anchor. This gives me an additional option compared to the position lock (anchor lock) that I have with my trolling motor and ProNav setup. The ProNav is great, but if you really want to hold your position in wind and waves you need a real anchor. I have a sore shoulder so I needed something that unfolds and lifts with the push of a button. Installation was difficult but not the fault of the…
