Terrible Accuracy in Mitutoyo Digital Caliper

This digital caliper is not only expensive but also inaccurate. As someone who works in the industrial and scientific field, I cannot trust this product for precise measurements. The build quality also feels cheap despite its hefty price tag.

Pros
  • Can measure up to 6 inches
Cons
  • Inaccurate, poor build quality

makes everything else look like junk

I won't even use digital calipers from other manufacturers. They are so impeccably made and work so well that everything else is rubbish by comparison. • Not bad, but...

Get a 6 " model, not a 4 "

I've seen Mitutoyo sell this 4" caliper offers. Big! I'm only measuring a few inches or less, right? It will be perfect and more compact. And this Mitutoyo just needs to be more accurate and consistent than the $19 digital calipers I buy from a local Chinese tool importer. I wasn't wrong: Mitutoyo is a beautiful thing. If you pick up a 4 inch model, open its jaws two inches and hold it, you'll find that the rod now ends up digging into the palm of my hand. And believe me, the edges are…

Pros
  • ABS sensor - eliminates the need to set a reference when the tool is on
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
