An American classic, difficult to read but pleasant to listen to

Very pleasant to listen to. Well told and easy to understand, two of my main requirements for an audio book :). I tried to read this when I was young (thankfully I was never given that assignment) and it's hard to read. Herman Melville was a master of poetic expression, and it's nice to listen to but difficult to read, in my opinion. A true American classic about the dangers of revenge and the mob mentality. I'm not that patient.

Have you ever read a book because your teacher made it compulsory? Either you read the whole thing and can't even remember a tenth of it today, or you read the end of the book and decided that was enough to write a book review.
