💧 Moen 146789 Replacement Part: Restoring Your Faucet's Peak Performance Review

This is the real deal. The kit included 2 spout o-rings and a bag of lube. Ordered on Wednesday, delivered 2 days later. The problem with water leakage from the spout has been fixed.

This Moen Part #146789 contains 1 5/8" OD (1 3/8" ID) O-Rings that my Moen Hi Arc kitchen faucet uses 1 1/8" OD, 7/8" ID. $12 for 2 rings. I return them and go to the brick and mortar to match them to the originals.

Our Moen faucet is dripping from the seam above the spout. Several helpful videos have shown that the o-rings are in need of repair. Moen O-rings were easy to install. Before installation, be sure to apply the lubricant included in the kit. Consider replacing the cartridge at the same time, especially if you live in a hard water area. The repair wasn't difficult even for a beginner like me.

I used this to replace the o-rings on my Moen Commercial 8711 kitchen faucet. It is helpful to read article "170206 Upper Bearing Washer - Single Standard Tube" on the Moen website for disassembling and reassembling the washer that holds the tube in place. O-ring grease is included in kit 146789.

After 6 years of use, a drip from the tap became annoying, especially when agitated with running water. We have hard water and I have found deposits inside which have mostly been removed with white vinegar. I also used #0000 steel wool in the areas where these o-rings sit to really smooth them out and prevent using anything more abrasive than #0000. You might think that this item is out of production! I couldn't find them at hardware stores near me and refused to pay double what I paid here and ordered them direct from Moena. They did what they had to do. My only complaint is that Moen doesn't provide them with instructions or tools to remove them. I used to have a Delta faucet and when I needed to buy replacement o-rings or other parts for it they came with instructions and a removal tool. Glad I still had the old removal tool!
