Description of Monoprice 100521 6 Feet IMG I MDIN8M

Serial connections can be confusing and are even more so when you try to connect devices to the older Apple Macintosh computers. However you can trust Monoprice to have the cables you need for almost any situation! The Macintosh Plus (Mac+) used an 8-pin mini-DIN connector for it's serial output which used the balanced RS-422 interface instead of the more common RS-232. Meanwhile the original Apple ImageWriter I printer used a 25-pin RS-232 interface. This cable connects the Mac+ printer output port to the ImageWriter I's DB-25 RS-232 input. It has molded plugs and the DB-25 end has thumbscrews to secure it to the printer

Excellent Performance from Lightning Cable

After I put it to the test, it became evident that this cable was far superior to others in its category. The quality of the image and sound produced was remarkable, with superior transfer speeds. Its length makes it ideal for use around the house. The only possible negative is that it's not suitable for use with all devices. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase and would recommend this lightning cable to others..

Pros
  • Durable and long-lasting due to high-quality materials used in the manufacturing process.
Cons
  • Some problems

ImageWriter II has a new life!

I wanted my ImageWriter II to work on a modern computer because tapes are so cheap. I've tried many cables and to no avail, but I managed to get it working with this cable, a db25-db9 cable, and a db9-rs232-usb cable running Linux. It automatically installs the driver from the Linux printer database, but I've had better luck with the C-Itoh printer driver. Be careful with the db9 to mini din connection you buy as the signals from the cable need to go both ways along the cable. I ran into an…
