Big shock, but a bolt.

Great shock replacement for my old Holsclaw trailer but as mentioned they only come with one bolt. I had to use one of the old bolts from the old shock to put it back on, but it's really nice to get a new set of shocks. Shock color may be important to some, but I don't care, these shocks are black, not yellow. I'm giving it 4 stars only because it comes with a bolt, gasket, lock washer and nut rather than two sets.

Pros
  • Dampening and vibration control
Cons
  • Newer model could have been chosen

Great for making your own trailer shock solution

I wanted to add shocks to my small trailer and knew I needed to make mounting brackets. These dampers were the perfect start as they are designed for trailers and come with a single flange mounting bolt. Overall length was short enough to grab a shock but long enough to ensure adequate movement without stretching or compression. These shock absorbers are gas filled. Check the Monroe website for the correct installation length.

Pros
  • Shock
Cons
  • Unsure

Worked on Old Holsclaw Trailer

I don't leave long reviews but I learned a few things that might be useful to someone. I have an early 70's Holsclaw trailer towing a 12 foot V bow aluminum boat. I am currently towing a lighter vehicle and have noticed a lot of trailer tongue movement which I can now feel in the car. 2. A tire on the driver's side was out of round and wearing unevenly. Replaced the tire and found the new one started to do the same.3. The springs are original (as are the shock absorbers) and would be difficult…

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • So far so good
