Happy Biker Jersey Guy

Product as advertised. I bought this solenoid for my 2003 Honda VTX1800. I installed it upon arrival. My bike started immediately.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Appearance

Great product on the motorcycle and powersports site

The mount was slightly different so I had to lengthen the holes to make it work. But given the fact that the same part from Honda cost over $200, it was worth making it work.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Some issues

Does not fit VTX1800 as advertised!

Not suitable for VTX1800 as advertised! I had to drill a long hole. A weak battery caused it to burn out when turned on, indicating that the contact material was of poor quality and fused easily.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Not sure

Poor quality product

Stuck in the on position and the starter motor kept turning when the key was removed. I hit the solenoid with a hammer to deactivate it. He has done this several times, I want to trade him!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Waste no time, ordered two in a week and both arrived broken.

Bought, the price was too good to be true. The solenoid didn't work at all, immediately ordered another to see if it worked and no. So there were 2 defective solenoids in one week from the same company.

Pros
  • Hard wearing finish
Cons
  • Not sure

Worked with some modifications.

Was a good price and really worked just had to drill bigger holes. The OEM holes were oval so you had a little play left and right, it didn't fit. It took longer to fix than to change right away, so everything is fine, I'll order a backup to keep in stock.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Update available

Not plug and play and only took a day!

Bike mounting holes need to be lengthened to fit. Worked half a dozen starts, and then the starter boiled and could not turn it off. I had to take the battery out and now my bike is completely dead. I had to bite the bullet and buy a genuine Honda part.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Operating speed

Dangerous failure good for part

Failure after 4 months. The contacts are frozen in the "START" position. I had to disconnect the battery to disable the starter even with everything else OFF. HIGH discharged battery. Read other reviews, others had the same problem. Imagine turning the bike off with the kill switch, the ignition key and the footpeg recess, but the starter motor keeps cranking the engine!

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Modern

Part failed within 40 days - not recommended

Part failed within 40 days causing a critical problem. The motorcycle's starter would get stuck in start mode and wouldn't turn off even if you turned off the key or disconnected power from the steering wheel controls. I had to disconnect the battery to turn it off. Luckily I was home and was able to get the tools to remove the seat and disconnect the battery. The OEM part for my 2003 Honda VTX 1800R was easy to find and cost under $60. The OEM part was easy to install and a perfect fit, unlike

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
