Description of Motor Stepper FeatherWing Feather Boards

4 full H-Bridges: the TB6612 chipset provides 1.2A per bridge (3A peak) with thermal shutdown protection, internal kickback protection diodes. Can run motors on 4.5VDC to 13.5VDC. Up to 4 bi-directional DC motors with individual 12-bit speed selection (so, about 0.02% resolution). Up to 2 stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar) with single coil, double coil, interleaved or micro-stepping. Big 3.5mm terminal block connectors to easily hook up wires (18-26AWG) and power. Polarity protected 2-pin terminal block and jumper to connect external power, for separate logic/motor supplies.

They come with connectors

Haven't been able to test it yet so can't give 5 stars yet, But I was pleasantly surprised that they come with the necessary connector to solder onto the board.

Pros
  • Up to 4 bi-directional DC motors with individually selectable 12-bit speed (ie about 0.02% resolution)
Cons
  • boring packaging

If you plan to use it for a stepper drive. Electronics design is a kind of hack. It uses an LED driver RBG PWM chip to switch between motor channels. They may not be able to drive stepper motors at the same time. If you just want to manage one at a time, that's fine. This works well when individual motors are turned on individually. Also, the driver is too small to work with most Nema 17 motors. The motor driver is only good up to 1.2 amps. not enough. If you want to use a 12V DC stepper motor,

Pros
  • 2-pin polarity protected terminal block and external power jumper, for separate logic/motor power supplies
Cons
  • old
