handle broken! for welding and soldering

The torch toggle is made of cheap plastic and breaks very easily. No replacement can be found and the supplier's website does not allow contact or offer to exchange parts. Have the buyer look at a product that offers customer support. In just 2 months of use, the product is useless!

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • old

It works, but there is a major security issue.

This looks like it works well and does the job I got it for, but there could be a BIG security issue. The hose is quite thin and appears to be made out of nylon and rubber. IF the hose ever gets in the way of a flame and catches fire (causing a leak), well it takes a lot of imagination to figure out what could happen. It would be nice if the hoses were stainless steel or something that couldn't burn.

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

Doesn't light up

The first time I used it (a few days ago) it worked great. No problem and it lights up with just a click or two. I used it for the second time today and it no longer lights up when it's on. Now I have to carry a lighter with me every time I need to use a flashlight. I checked that there was no solder in the nozzle and that it was completely clean. I unscrewed the top and don't see any problems there either. Not sure what happened in just a few days but it's quite disappointing how much it cost.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • dim

Works well after repair.

Works fine after I fix it. My detonator hasn't worked since I opened it. So I took it apart. I found the ground wire was badly connected. After fixing it, I tried again and it still didn't work. So I looked at the wire inside the tube. It still had a plastic sleeve covering it completely. I removed about 3/8 inch and exposed the exposed wire. I finally have a spark! I collect everything and check the gas. Now it works every time. Quality control should reveal my problems.

Pros
  • Weight

  • Some small things

Hot burner and easy to use!

I was originally wanting to get a burner that attaches directly to a fuel bottle, but I'm so glad I decided on this stove with hose instead! Makes using the flashlight much easier and allows it to get into places/corners that would be impossible if the bottle was hanging down. I only bought this to work on my rusty New England cars. There was a stuck bolt and this MAPP torch helped loosen it. A little confused about how long it took me to finally buy a flashlight to be honest. This will be aโ€ฆ

Be sure to solder copper tubing

I had 10 burst pipes during the last freezing weather in Texas. I took out my propane torch but it couldn't generate enough heat to heat the frozen pipes and melt the solder! Then I got this burner and it heats up so quickly and easily that I will never go back to propane. This burner uses MAPP gas, which burns hot enough to make a very noticeable difference. We don't normally have a problem with propane in Texas, but this experience made me believe in MAPP gas and an easy-to-use burner. Theโ€ฆ
