found it very difficult to wash off the sticky tape that was wrapped around the paper. Even after many deep peels I still have a tacky stickiness. I even scraped it until there were scratches on the lifter and the stickiness was still coming off. It does the job but I would look elsewhere if I could buy it again.

It was so easy to use! It was a little tricky to start and trim the starting edge of the cake but once I had used the wires to mark my spot I used a sharp knife to start the cut and then I was able to use the wire to cut to get through the rest of the way through the cake! Everyone was so impressed with the layers on the cake. The wires are easily adjustable and stay in place. This worked great for the one cake I needed it for, although it might not last long if you bake cakes all the time.

Some complain about this type of cake cutter. Before use, it is important that the cake is chilled, even frozen. Perhaps they should include this bit in the instructions. It is also important to place the cake on a sufficiently large surface (bowl, tray, plate) so that the cake is perfectly flat. Otherwise, the results can be less than stellar. Can't give all 5 stars because obviously it's a thin little wire that should cut the cake BUT because it's a thin little wire it works fine . The cake needs to be the perfect size and temperature before slicing, and the cutter needs to sit perfectly on the counter. When these requirements are met, a good, clean cut is usually obtained. This knife is better than other expensive knives made by regular bakers. Price. Wires are adjustable. What I like best is that the cutter has grooves so the cutting wires stay in place and don't slip off once you've set the levels to cut. The width of this cutter is enough for every job. It's even big enough to cut an entire 13 x 9 sheet cake and a large round cake. It won't be big enough for the largest bottom circle of a wedding cake, but it will probably be the next size smaller.
