The first died, the second is still working

The first lost the right channel within a few hours. The second runs strong. I'm amazed at the difference in sound quality with my old $99 Technica.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Not everything fits

sounds muffled good for preamp

You would understand that a music hall company makes great products and they do. Unfortunately, it is no coincidence that it is one of them. For the price at Shia Mani you can't go wrong.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • You could have gone for a newer model

An easy way to add a phono preamp

Because the hidden Bellari VP549 in this preamp does what I expected. It opens up a wide range of MM and MC pickups thanks to its variable gain and adjustable capacitive loading. The only thing I can criticize is the use of the BA4560 op amp and the type of circuitry which is borrowed from the 741. Well designed, everything counted.

Pros
  • Some competitors
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Disguised VP-549

I have no reason to give anything other than a 5 star rating other than that I only heard it for a day. It definitely sounds better than the built-in phono stage in my Sansui, and subjectively I find it better than in my Carver. At under $110 it's a steal, at $149 it might have some competition. No hum issues, ground on my vintage turntable but no ground on my new HDMI receiver which doesn't have a dedicated ground pin.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
