Awesome Fuel Band

Completed Nathan Trail Mixed Fuel Band Virtual Solo Marathon. Pleasantly surprised at how practical it is, as well as the storage space for keys, fuel, ID and more: a zip pocket with Velcro pocket for easy access. Much better than the ones I used many years ago. 2 pods were left outside and contained enough water as well.

Cons

Bottle holder broke after a few months

I really liked the running belt as long as it lasted, but after a few months one of the bottle holders came loose and is now unusable huh of course, halving the water I can carry and limiting the length of my runs. I liked it until then, but I won't buy it again because it broke after such a short time.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I have no complaints about it, everything is fine

I would love to hear other reviews!

I had the previous green version but bought this one because I hated bouncing - this version seems less bouncing BUT the water bottle holder design is TERRIBLE. Bottles keep falling out during the run and this morning for one the strap snapped rendering the strap unusable for its intended purpose. Which is very frustrating considering it's not a cheap belt!

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Not the best

Wear and tear after 2 months

After only 2 months of regular use (1-3 times a week) the rubber band holding the bottles is already stretching. As a result, water bottles tend to fall out at descents or intersections. Also, one of the bottles immediately began leaking through the sidewall. Nathan sent me replacement bottles with these accessories free of charge. Bottles are difficult to clean and mold can easily form in the corners. I cleaned them thoroughly right after the workout right from the start.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Bottle cage elastic strap failure

The elastic on both bottle cages failed after the first 4 mile test run. When filling both bottles, the rebound was very noticeable. I tried pulling and moving the strap a variety of ways but the bottles kept bouncing. After the run I removed the belt and inspected the mounts. As clear as day, the rubber bands on both mounts were frayed at both ends. The holder's plastic seemed to cut into the elastic fabric as the bottles bounced. Maybe it was just a manufacturer error on my custom belt?

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Reliability

Works well, stretchy, short lived

Worked great on my first 20+ mile run! I've always been a "gum in my mouth and nothing else" runner and figured that hydrating during my runs was the next step in increasing my length. This belt definitely helped me get there. It was comfortable, didn't move from all sides (there was minimal chafing on the lower back), and held the bottles securely. pulled out on the other side. I was hoping to get at least a season out of it and would have given it 5 stars if durability wasn't such an issue.

  • Price
Cons
  • Not sure

Great running belt!

I live in Florida and my runs are SO HOT. I can't hold a water bottle while running so I started looking and bought two other straps. They were terrible. I kept looking and found Nathan's belt! He ticked every box and it's "cute" for a fanny pack LOL! The water bottles are awesome and you can put ice cubes and cold water in it and it stays pretty cold while you walk. Sometimes the plastic bottles give off a weird smell and I can't get rid of it - they have NO SMELL and after the first wash…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Very expensive

Disappointed with design and quality

Bought a new Trail Mix Plus running belt to replace my existing Trail Mix. The new design has a smaller capacity and cheaper materials. I owned an old belt for about two years that didn't fail (black belt in photos). I run an average of 5-6 days a week, covering about 50 miles or more. I walk my dog on the streets and trails. We have a collapsible dog bowl, my cell phone, tissues and car keys. I decided to replace my belt as it was starting to look worn out. Nathan no longer offers an exact…
