Great vertical wall shelf

Perfect wall shelf especially for patch panels. Given that there are only two mounting holes and it's vertically shorter than other wall shelves, I wouldn't recommend a really heavy unit. Given that, I would recommend this stand as the best wall mount stand for patch panels and lighting equipment. The included wall anchors are easy to figure out but I skipped them as I was mounting them on concrete so I used Tapcons. Clips/screws required for mounting equipment.

Pros
  • Heavy duty
Cons
  • Damaged

Works well only $$ for what you get

Let's be realistic this is a 2U wall shelf. Bent sheet metal with punched square holes for cage nuts is used for this. It looks like a pretty high premium, but I paid money for it, so I guess I'm ashamed. The 2U rack wasn't bad. Also, it wasn't perfectly square, I had to bend it a bit to fit the switch in it. Now that it's installed I don't have to worry about it anymore. I just feel like for almost $40 it should have been a bit more boring.

  • Good product for the price

Nice solid but a little awkward to install

I used two of these to mount 19 inch network switches on my office wall at my desk. It worked great for that purpose and they appear to be firmly attached to the wall. I had no idea what the included anchor bolts were for as there were no installation instructions so I ignored them and just drilled holes and glued plastic drywall anchors and just regular ones screws. The hardest part was inserting the nuts into the square holes to attach the network device to their "ears". Bend/twist theโ€ฆ

Perfect for the home geek

I recently received a 2U enterprise server from Dell. I wasn't ready to buy a complete server rack when I only had a few pieces of hardware for rack mounting. I was able to install this guy in a closet (with adequate ventilation) to run the virtualization server. The bracket itself is quite thick. I was impressed by the thickness of the steel used and I have no doubt that it will snap out of the wall long before the bracket itself breaks. With that in mind, I would prefer multiple horizontalโ€ฆ

Good for standard mounting hardware

Overall this rack works very well. I have a bare wall (not drywall) and am 110% sure that made the installation easier. First I adjusted it to 2x4 so it was a little farther from the wall and then I attached the 2x4 to the wall. However, I hit my first hurdle when I started assembling my server. The holes on the brackets are slightly offset. The first set of holes on this rack are directly opposite the back of the rack. This means I had to move my server forward a number of holes, wasting aโ€ฆ

Nice, solid but a bit fiddly to install

I used two of these switches to install 19 inch network switches on my office wall at my desk. to be fixed firmly to the wall. I had no idea what the included anchor bolts were for as there were no installation instructions, so I ignored them and just drilled holes and put in plastic drywall anchors and regular screws. The most frustrating moment was inserting nuts into the square holes to attach the network device to their "ears". They were very difficult to hit and my thumbs weren't happyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Legacy model

The kit does the job but more detail on instructions and installation strategies would be nice. With a little ingenuity this kit could be customized to fit a small space. The "nuts and bolts" package didn't seem to have the "right things" for my seemingly extremely common application or rack mountable bare metal server setup. I found a way to make it work. Not very strong, but not thin either. I was expecting the accessories to be more useful and the instructions to give more options, but it'sโ€ฆ

Yes it will work horizontally under a table edge

My usage was a little off label. Instead of mounting the device vertically on the wall, I used it to mount the device horizontally under the table. For that it worked great. A few notes: * There are only two holes for attaching the bracket to the wall/table/thing. It worked fine for me, the hardware I assembled only weighed about 15 pounds. If you're mounting something heavier, you can drill a few extra holes. * Mounts that come with the kit: weird. I don't really know how they're supposed toโ€ฆ
