Great unless it's

This thing replaced my original PocketWizard set which cost about $400 20 years ago. Absolutely reliable, light, compact. Mine just broke after a day of use. There is no signal at the PC connection of the receiver. After a few letters I received a full refund of the purchase price. I bought another one with this money, it works fine. I then disassembled the non-working unit, found a broken solder joint on the PC connector, carefully re-soldered it, and now I have two working sets. Price, who…

Pros
  • I'm looking forward to it
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Does exactly what it says.

I have some old Minolta handheld flashes from the movie days lying around. I've now switched to a modern camera. When I started a portrait studio, I decided I needed a way to use old flashes. That helped. The great thing about studio shots of the head is that the shots are almost the same every time. Not interesting, but it's a stable income. I was able to manually set up the camera and two flashes (I have a second set so I have two receivers). After everything is dialed in, the recordings work

I can't establish a secure connection to my Canon 6D.

Bought the print 3 months ago. It only worked sporadically. I thought the problem was in my flash or camera settings. I have changed the trigger channels and tried many different flash and strobe configurations and tests. I just found out that it was a contact issue and that lightly pressing the trigger from behind always fires my gear, but the flash only fires when I press it forward and I can't even turn on the self-timer and get the trigger hook , to shoot at it without hand. I order the…

Shoot, it's a trigger!

While I try to use long sync cords connected directly to my studio flashes whenever possible, there are times when this isn't practical. These inexpensive wireless trigger receivers appear to be doing a good job of bridging the gap when times like this come around. So far I haven't experienced any misfires as others have noted. Also, I've tested them up to 40 feet and they work great. They work equally well for my flashes and for studio lighting. They feel quite cheap, but not as much as some…

Great low cost option for turning on studio lights

One of my jobs is photographing various packaged products for an international e-commerce pop-up site. This is a low budget job. They provided me with an inexpensive flashlight. I used the included sync cord, but in the tight space I have to work in, I keep stepping on the cord and yanking it out of the camera. It's very frustrating, especially when I'm working with a model (aka one of his employees) and I get the right shot but the flash won't fire. To alleviate this hassle, I decided to…

Pros
  • One year trial
