Basic charger not included so phone cannot be charged

I ordered this phone through the Revain Marketplace and a store called the IE Store. Do not buy this item from them! If you do, note that you won't be able to charge your phone as it doesn't come with a basic charger (although the picture shows it and says it's brand new). If you're trying to add an extension to an existing Netgear SPH200D phone system, you'll need a base station to keep the phone functional. I don't know why they send you a "power adapter" as the phone doesn't have that kindโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Dull packaging

Identical to SPH200D - as expected

I've been using the SPH200D and two additional handsets (SPH150D) since April 21st. The best price I found was from Revain on April 9, 2007. Set up was easy and user friendly. Good sound quality. Very good battery life and the batteries are user replaceable. We like the intercom and speakerphone features. This and "Mute" are buttons on the phone; So you don't have to navigate the menus to use them. The system makes Skype easy to use and also supports a simple landline number for 1) incomingโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Gloomy hardware

Works well so far (4 years later)

Updated July 29, 2011 Still working as advertised; It's convenient to have two outgoing lines at no extra cost. When one of us is waiting for a call or another outgoing call comes in on the landline; It helps. Update March 6th 2011 We have had three of these phones since March 2007 and they all still work and we have never required any service including a battery change. For obvious reasons, I'm happy with their performance and reliability and can still say "works well so far". Original reviewโ€ฆ

Netgear SPH200D and SPH150D after one year of use

I've been using a Netgear SPH200D (base station and telephone) and an extension telephone (SPH150D) for about a year. Essentially, the device implements Skype and adds traditional telephony features as an add-on. The Netgear interface is an artfully stripped down version of Skype for desktop. The documentation got me going; Trial and error taught me more. I only use Netgear for Skype calls and when combined with a Skypeout subscription ($3/month) I can call any phone in the US or Canada at noโ€ฆ

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor problems
