Buy Propet or Saucony instead

New Balance shoes have really gone down in quality over the years. It's so uncomfortable when you have a job where you're on your feet all day and then forget it, they're stiff, heavy and awkward. If you're looking for a great pair of comfortable shoes that won't fall apart after a few months, choose Propet or Saucony (both brands come in wide and extra wide).

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Easy Repairability

I have narrow feet and didn't want to buy narrow ones because I wear thick socks. I wore the sneakers to work today, so good that I bought other New Balance sneakers. I need room in my toes as I have toe osteoarthritis. I got the arch supports from Dr. Also don't scoff and laugh at the trick I learned from waiters and waitresses to use Cotex pads as pillows as the ball of my foot hurts from draftsmen. Many Thanks

The sock fits like a pointed shoe!

I measured the standard New Balance size 12.5 using their size chart and generous socks - I have a shoe size 12A-AA for comparison. I thought a size 13 might be a bit large, but the length to the ball of the foot was perfect considering how far forward the heel stabilizer extended. Instead I was shocked that hiking shoes would pinch your toes! With a wide and bulky insole, carelessness was felt. The pointed forefoot just didn't look good on the foot, although the sneakers look nice in photos…

Pros
  • Rubber outsole
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Literally life changing shoes for me

As a teenager I always bought New Balance shoes when I was a waitress. (MANY years ago.) They were the best shoes for my large feet. Since then I've had 2 fairly serious car accidents (not my fault) which have left me with 7 dislocated/degenerative discs in my lower back and 3 in my neck plus aches and pains that I deal with on a daily basis. I can testify that GOOD SHOES WILL MAKE A CHANGE IN A PERSON'S DAILY WORK, with or without health problems/pain like mine. So I was, am and will ALWAYS be

Pros
  • Shaft size about low off the arch
Cons
  • Annoying
