Description of 🧽 Enhanced Absorbency with New Pig Absorbent PIG202

The heaviest sock we make features extra-dense construction to hug floors and stay in place while containing spills. Fine-grade vermiculite filler quickly absorbs leaks, drips and spills; great for spill response or absorbing machine leaks. Stitch-bonded, polypropylene skin resists bursting; reduces dust and holds in liquid, even when saturated. Absorbs and retains oils, coolants, solvents and water. Ideal for diking and damming small volumes of liquid. Not suitable for either the washing machine or dryer as the sock may become damaged in the process and filler loose in the machines. Only suitable for air drying. Socks should not be left in direct sunlight for long periods of time. Prolonged UV exposure will cause degradation.

Good Absorption: Handling Hazardous Materials

We use these to detect potential leaks on our water heater. It does a great job with regular leaks, but if the entire furnace fails, it won't absorb the entire contents of the furnace. I don't think it can handle that much water. We have been using them for many years and are satisfied.

Pros
  • Overflow Kits
Cons
  • Easily Torn

TERRIBLE PERFORMANCE.

We placed them on the floor of our patio and we could see exactly how they behaved in a downpour. They stopped the flow of rainwater to the door for about 10 minutes as the vermiculite inside them expanded. But as they expanded, they became permeable! The water just flowed through them, slowly and steadily! I thought they would become impenetrable as they absorb water and expand. Not so.

Pros
  • Hazardous Materials Handling
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled

can hold enough water

We used them in every door during Hurricane Florence when we had days with wind and rain (about 30 inches of rain total). If water didn't come in through the main doors of our home, sucking up water at the garage doors and keeping our garage dry, but most importantly keeping water out of our kayak room and preventing water from reaching the dehumidifier in that room. These socks got soaked, but the rooms stayed dry! I tried drying them but they were very wet and it took me many days to dry them
