Works great on my 12-core Mac Pro

For a relatively small amount, this card offers an absolutely massive speed boost when copying stuff. Sometimes these cards connect to Macs via click-to-play, but this card has been rock solid for me so far and didn't require absolutely zero setup. Completely plug and play.

Pros
  • Good for many
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Exactly what the doctor ordered

I ordered this based on lots of online research to connect my new external RAID system to my 2010 Mac Pro. I installed it and it worked the first time with no problems. Hard drive tests show that this card is even faster than my internal drives. Excellent purchase

Pros
  • Worth your money
Cons
  • Some trouble

I'm so glad I didn't buy a Mac Pro "Black Cylinder ".

I'm so glad I didn't buy a Mac Pro "Black Cylinder". Mid 2010 installed Mac Pro Installation time 5130 seconds. Automatic detection without additional software. About twice as fast as FireWire 800. It's nice to be able to expand and improve your computer by installing different components in it.

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • Can't remember

I bought this card for an older i3 on an EVGA P55 motherboard. I am using esata to connect to a Raid 5 enclosure. I had very slow write speeds for a while and was frustrated with changing hard drives, cables and eventually the enclosure itself. Nothing worked. I finally got this to rule out the Esata port as the cause, even though the Esata ports are rated at 3Gbps on the motherboard. The motherboard manufacturer stopped releasing new drivers two years ago. All you have to do is plug this cardโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Satisfied for now
Cons
  • Will write later

Nice improvement over FireWire!

This card worked fine in my Mac Pro 5.1. Speeds up loading and significantly speeds up data transfer from an external drive. FireWire slowed down bootcamp significantly, and using this card with esata fixed the problem. Also, hibernation and shutdown work fine on both OS X and Bootcamp windows.

Pros
  • Like all so far
Cons
  • I have no negative feelings about it, everything is fine

Easy install, still works great on OS X (10.9, Mavericks)

I had an older Voyager USB, FireWire, eSata dock that I wanted to use with this card, but got it disconnected again and again after intensive use. I didn't know if it was the dock or the card so I decided to try a different dock (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005UA3I72) and both the card and the dock work fine, none sleep / off problems. I would definitely recommend this card to anyone who has an older, non-USB3 Mac Pro and wants more speed from their external drives.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Packaging is ugly

Good Card I/O Port Cards

I bought this card to fix a problem I had with an old card that was causing the PC to freeze while the BIOS was checking my external drives recognized it, but apparently I've also greatly improved the transfer speed compared to this card. This card is so short (3 inches) that it fits in a x1 PCIe slot that no other card in my system would fit, freeing up the x16 slot for something else. If this card doesn't fail in the future or cause other problems, this is a great buy.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Negative Gift

It's a great card

I installed this card on my desktop PC with an Asus motherboard running Windows 7 and it was literally intuitive. It was recognized immediately and my two E-Sata drives connected straight away. I love how much faster I can access the contents of my drive than USB connections. Also, if you are using Windows XP, you need to download and install the driver separately. This didn't work for me on my XP machine, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Overall ok but...
